Our recommended doctors use lanluma injections to treat a range of aesthetic concerns in the face and body. This advanced treatment is the first collagen-stimulating injectable filler that has been approved for use on the body, and has proven to deliver significant and long-lasting results.
What are Lanluma Injections?
Lanluma is a collagen-stimulating injectable filler that reshapes and volumizes targeted areas of the face and body. The filler is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a substance that stimulates the body’s fibroblast cells that are responsible for the production of collagen. As a result, the body’s natural supply of the collagen protein will gradually increase, which in turn will regenerate the skin.
Unlike the traditional dermal fillers which provide instant volume by injecting hyaluronic acid into the body, Lanluma injections add volume in a natural way by stimulating the production of the body’s own collagen. This process results in the growth of fibrous tissue which in turn visibly increases the volume of the area.
Lanluma is a bio-stimulating substance that encourages the body to replenish its collagen reserves that usually become dormant in one’s 20s. Therefore, it produces a natural but noticeable volume enhancement.
This cosmetic procedure is ideal for patients who want a subtle increase in volume, for example to mask the appearance of hip dips and slightly elevate the buttocks. Lanluma also provides a non-surgical alternative to fat transfer.
Cellulite is a common and benign skin condition that is linked to several factors including genetics, age, and hormonal changes. It is caused by the accumulation of excess fat cells that push up against the skin, while the connective cords tether the skin down. This results in an uneven skin texture, with the appearance of lumpy and dimpled skin that predominantly occurs around the hips, thighs, and buttocks.
Lanluma injections can improve the appearance of cellulite as the production of collagen will add volume to the indented areas of the skin in order to create a more even appearance.
Improves Skin Texture
By stimulating the production of collagen, Lanluma injections can improve the texture of the skin for a more youthful and even appearance. Therefore, it can treat a multitude of skin concerns that occur with age including wrinkles, deep lines, and hollow areas in the face. It is also used as a treatment for certain scars that indent the skin and create an uneven texture
The price of a Lanluma treatment varies depending on the size of the area being treated. You will have the opportunity to discuss your desired results during a consultation with your chosen doctor, after which they will determine an exact price for your treatment. In general, UK prices for one treatment session for the body usually start from £1,900.
Lanluma Treatment Procedure
Lanluma treatments use local anaesthetic, and are therefore generally painless. After the anaesthetic has been administered, your doctor will inject Lanluma into the area that you want to enhance. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes.
When injected, the filler containing PLLA particles will immediately add noticeable volume to the area. However, your body will absorb this substance over the next few days after the procedure, which in turn will activate the fibroblast cells that will begin to produce collagen. The natural volume that results from the new supply of collagen to the skin will take around 30-90 days to become visible.
The downtime for a Lanluma treatment is minimal, with most patients resuming their normal routine within 24 hours after the treatment. You will likely notice some redness and swelling in the treated area which usually dissipates within a few hours, and in some cases within a few days. Furthermore, depending on the nature of your treatment, you may also need to avoid intense exercise 5-7 days after the treatment.
How many Lanluma treatments will I need?
Typically, patients require 1-3 treatments over a period of 2-8 weeks, with each treatment adding further enhancement. This will depend on the size of the area being treated and the desired outcome.
How long do Lanluma results last?
The collagen that adds volume to the treated area lasts anywhere between 2-5 years. However, you can maintain results with repeat treatments every 2-3 years.
How soon will I see results?
As the doctor injects the Lanluma filler, you will immediately see an increase in volume in the area. However, your skin will absorb the filler over the next few days, which in turn will trigger the body’s natural mechanism to produce collagen and build volume.
The production of collagen is a gradual process that takes between 30-90 days. Therefore, you’ll begin to see visible results during this time with continual visible improvements occurring upto 6 months after the treatment. The immediate enhancement from the filler is a good indicator of the final result.
Is there any downtime after Lanluma?
As mentioned, Lanluma treatments entail a minimal downtime. You will likely be able to carry on with your normal routine 24 hours after the treatment, with the possible exception of vigorous exercise.
Which areas of the body can Lanluma treat?
Lanluma injections are available in two forms, namely Lanluma V and Lanluma X. The former treats the hands and face, while the latter enhances large areas of the body such as the buttocks and hips.
