How do they work?

Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient found naturally in the human body, acting very much like a natural sponge that attracts water and gives our skin its youthful and plump look.

As we age, we naturally produce less hyaluronic acid. Therefore, the process of the sagging of our skin ultimately leads to the formation of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of volume.

By synthesising hyaluronic acid into a dermal filler form with variable thickness gels, scientists have provided aesthetic practitioners with a fantastic tool to restore natural youthfulness to the face.

Around 12-18 month after your treatment, the body will start to naturally degrade the hyaluronic acid dermal filler over time. To maintain results you will be able to book a follow-up dermal filler treatment at your chosen clinic.

FAQ

How do I know if I am suitable for treatment?

During a consultation with your doctor you will discuss which areas of your face and skin concern you and how dermal fillers can improve the volume and contours of your face.

Our recommended doctors use different brands and varied thickness levels of hyaluronic acid gels, all with differing properties suited to address a variety of concerns, from fine-lines and wrinkles to lip plumping.

Hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers contain naturally synthesised ingredients and are suitable for men and women of all skin types, unless you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients.

If you are pregnant or currently breastfeeding you will not be suitable for dermal filler treatment and will need to await the period of weaning your child before embarking on a treatment plan.

What can I expect to happen during treatment?

Dermal fillers are office-based treatments which are well tolerated by most people with little to no discomfort.

The treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes during which time several injection points will be used to administer the correct amount of product needed to enhance or correct the targeted facial area.

How many treatments will I need?

Dermal fillers are usually completed within one treatment session. Repeat treatments will be required in 12 to 18 months or when the desired effect starts to wear off. Typically, the filler in more dynamic areas of the face tends to degrade quicker.

Does it hurt?

Dermal Fillers injections are not painful for most people, especially as many of the products contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic.

In some cases, your doctor may use a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream which is applied to the skin shortly before the treatment to reduce any discomfort.

Our recommended doctors are experts in pain management and putting their patients at ease.

What are the possible side effects?

You should expect some minor redness and tenderness at the injection points. You may also experience some moderate swelling, especially after lip treatments. Bruising may also occur in some people. All of these should last no more than a week.

Downtime is limited, allowing you to return to your normal life and activities immediately.

What results can I expect?

Results will be immediately visible upon leaving the clinic; you will be able to see the enhancement, reshaping, new contours and additional volume in the treated area.

Once any swelling or redness has subsided in the following days, your end result will become apparent. A review appointment will be arranged to evaluate the final outcome and address any concerns or issues.

How long will the results last?

The dermal fillers that our recommended doctors use are long-lasting, but the product is naturally metabolised in the body over time. Most of the product brands last between 8 to 18 months depending on their specific composition. To maintain your results, repeat treatment is usually recommended after 12-18 months.

How much does it cost?

Dermal filler treatment cost will depend on the area that you are treating, the specific product brand of hyaluronic acid dermal filler recommended, and the amount of product or syringes required to achieve the desired result.

You will discuss your bespoke solution and price with your doctor. However, on average, the doctors we work with charge from £450.
